Heysham Community Pre-School has been established for over 20 years. Originally situated within the old Heysham Youth and Community Centre, we have evolved as the building has changed. We provide day care to children aged between 2-5 years and offer a friendly, family environment, where every child is valued and their needs individually assessed and met.
Heysham Community Pre-School offers a nurturing and stimulating environment where your child is encouraged to flourish and grow. Our rooms are bright and well resourced and our outdoor space is second to none. Here children have lots of space to play, learn and discover outdoors come rain or shine, due to the fantastic covered areas.
We encourage parents to be involved in their child’s development while they are with us and use an online learning journal called Tapestry. It helps both us and parents to record, track and celebrate their child's progress in their fun-packed and busy early years and our key person system ensures strong relationships are fostered between the staff, the children and their families.
Ellie, our Nursery Manager, has experience of working in both schools and private and voluntary settings and she leads a well-qualified and experienced team of staff who are dedicated to their chosen career. All staff regularly update their Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid Qualifications, in line with government guidelines and also undertake Food Safety training.

“My daughter loved this nursery, fantastic staff and atmosphere. Looking forward to my little one starting in September!”

Our indoor environments are resourced with a continuous provision of mark making, books, role play, small world, construction, painting, sand, water, workshop and malleable activities and experiences. All our areas are clearly labelled, making it easy for children to choose what they would like to play with.
We enhance our areas with further resources to extend childrens’ knowledge and understanding depending on their interests and seasonal topics or themes. We work to the Early Years Foundation Stage and plan adult led focused activities, which are differentiated to ensure all children benefit from taking part in them.
As of September 2014 The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Reforms have made it a statutory requirement to make information available to parents about how a setting supports children with SEND. Our Local Offer is available to download here.
